Muleshoe on top in water taste test

Winners have been announced in the Best Tasting Water Contest held as part of the 41st annual Texas Water Utilities Association's Central West Texas Regional School.

The event was hosted by the city of Abilene this week.

Ten water systems competed in two categories: best-tasting surface water for big city and small city, and best-tasting groundwater for big city and small city. An award also was given for Best Overall Tasting Water.

Winners -- now eligible to take part in a statewide contest -- include:

- Best Tasting Groundwater, population greater than 10,000: Kermit

- Best Tasting Groundwater, population less than 10,000: Muleshoe

- Best Tasting Surface Water, population greater than 10,000: Abilene

- Best Tasting Surface Water, population less than 10,000: Winters

- Best Overall Tasting Water: Muleshoe

Judges included Glen Campbell, Clyde; Richard Seals, Sterling City, and Gail Worley, Abilene.

According to a city of Abilene news release, the TWUA Central West Texas Regional School trains area and regional water and wastewater employees for licensing.
