?  Have more than one way to receive severe weather forecasts and warnings and to        alert the public.

?  Created a system that monitors local weather conditions.

?  Promoted the importance of public readiness through community seminars.

?  Developed a formal hazardous weather plan which includes training severe weather       spotters and holding emergency exercises.

In the notification letter to Police Chief Brian Frieda, Justin Weaver, Meterorologist-in-Charge of the Lubbock National Weather Service stated "This success is clearly a result of your vision, leadership, hard work, and commitment to the citizens of Muleshoe and Bailey County. the citizens of your community should take pride in having achieved this recognition."
